Welcome to West Point Public Schools

In response to parent requests during the 2015-2016 school year,  the West Point School Board initiated a study to review the merits of adopting a 10-point grading scale.  A committee of school and community members examined the merits and faults of our current grading scale and a 10-point grading scale.  After examination and deliberation, the committee recommended the division adopt a 10-point grading scale citing the state-wide trend of divisions adopting 10-point scales, inconsistencies within our Dual Enrollment classes, the potential disadvantage our students faced competing for scholarships, and the belief that the rigor of our school system lies within the daily activities asked of our students and not in the tool we use to measure those activities.

Prior to adoption, the WPPS School Board requested an implementation plan be developed.  Development of that plan led the committee to examine and ultimately recommend using  +/- intervals within the 10-point scale.  At this time, the WPPS School Board is requesting your feedback on the two 10-point scale options.  Please use the link provided below or go to www.wpschools.net to participate.

Sincerely,
West Point Public Schools
